Helen Berhane

By Matt  //  Authors, Interview, Ministry  //  Comments Off

Helen Berhane was held captive for over two years in appalling conditions in her native Eritrea, including months locked up in a shipping container. Her crime? Sharing her faith in Jesus, and refusing, even though horrendously tortured, to deny him. This Interview is a sobering, painful, heart-rending account of true faith in the face of evil. Helen says, “I want to give a message to those of you who are Christians and live in the free world: You must not take your freedom for granted… If I could sing in prison, imagine what you can do for God’s glory with your freedom.” A real challenge for the Church in the West. Song of the Nightingale

Todd Burpo

By Matt  //  Authors, Interview, Pastors & Leaders  //  Comments Off

In this interview, Leigh Hatcher speaks with Nebraska pastor Todd Burpo, author of the book Heaven is for Real. When Todd’s son Colton was 4, he suffered from an undiagnosed ruptured appendix. The book, Heaven is for Real, details Burpo’s claims that during the months after emergency surgery, Colton began describing events and people it was impossible for him to have seen or met, such as his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born. Within three weeks of its November 2010 release, the book debuted at #3 on the New York Times bestseller list. By January 2011, there were 200,000 copies in print, and the book hit #1 on the New York Times list. heavenisforreal.net
